Building for the Little Guy
Twenty years of running jobs on one rule — everything has a spot — and why that rule is now turning into an app for the small operators the big software companies forgot.
Ask anybody who has ever worked a job with me and they will tell you: I have never been able to leave a mess alone. Twenty years of running construction jobs, and the rule on every site I ran was the same one I grew up with — I was the kid who needed to see everything in his drawers, his closet, his pantry. Everything has a spot, and everything is easy to find. Tools staged in the order we would use them. Materials set where the next person could grab them without asking. Paperwork in its folder, never in a pile on the truck seat.
That wiring is exactly why Temptation Designs exists. Organizing your home is the same instinct, turned loose on a garage instead of a job site. But for a long time, there was one place in my own work life where the rule did not reach: the business side of being a small contractor.

The job ran on a system. The business didn't.
The work itself ran tight. The paperwork did not. Bids written up at the kitchen table after dinner. Invoices done at night. Job details scattered across a string of texts, a notebook, and my own memory. Anybody who has run a small crew knows that table. It is where the day goes after the day is over.
So I went looking for software to fix it, and I found plenty — built for somebody else. The platforms the trades run on are designed for companies with an office: a dispatcher, an office manager, front-desk staff. The pricing tells the same story. One leading platform starts at $49 a month and then adds $29 for every extra person on the account. Another starts at $79 a month and jumps to roughly $189 the moment a second person logs in. That is per-seat creep, and if you are a one- or two-person operation — and most home-service businesses are exactly that — you end up paying rent on an office you do not have, for seats and features you will never touch.
So I'm building the thing I couldn't find
So I started building it myself. It is called NailLedger — one app where a small operator can design the job, send the bid, track the work, and invoice, all from the phone in his pocket. It runs on the same rule as everything else I do: everything in its place, findable in seconds, nothing left in a pile on the truck seat. It is not a big company's platform scaled down for the little guy. It is built from the kitchen table up, priced flat, for the way a small shop actually runs. If you want the whole story — why I built it, what it does, and what it costs — I wrote the full story here.

Why this matters if you never run a job
You may never send a bid in your life. But you hire people who do. When you bring in an organizer, a cleaner, a handyman, or a two-person crew you found through a neighbor, you are hiring somebody who is the crew, the office, and the accounting department all at once. The tools that fit them decide whether you get a straight quote the same day or a number scribbled from memory a week later. It is the same reason a home organizer in Denver can walk in, quote you honestly, show up on time, and run the whole project calm — systems are what make the work feel easy on your end, whether the job is a software rollout or a garage reclaim in Parker.
There is a local piece to it, too. Small operators are your neighbors. They coach the teams, shop the same stores you do, and their name is on the truck because there is nobody standing behind them to hide behind. Keeping good people like that in business — here in the South Metro, and in every neighborhood like it — takes tools priced for the business they actually run. That is what I am building, on the side, with the same stubbornness I bring to a basement full of bins.
Temptation Designs is not going anywhere. It is the day job, and honestly, it is the same philosophy either way: a system that fits your life beats a pile every time. Whether it is an app for a two-person crew or home organizing in Highlands Ranch, the promise does not change.
